[Bookplates for Bell Telephone Company of Canada] This bookplate is in two parts ' one to show who made the presentation, the other to show ownership by the library. Part 1 (upper): This bookplate is composed of black text, with a dotted line at the bottom on which to record the name of the presenter. Part 2 (lower): This bookplate is composed of black text, with a small form number in the upper right, the major text with parts bolded, and a grid below that for recording due dates. Both of these pieces have an unused full glue coating on the back. 10. [Bookplate] In purple ink, this is a textual book owner's stamp. 11. [Bookplate] A simple border surrounds the text. On the top left is the crest of Cercle La Salle. It shows a shield divided in three: at the top is a lit oil lamp, on the bottom left are three vertical fleur-de-lis and at the bottom right is a cross over top of a crossed pen and sword. A banner over the top of the crest contains the name of the organization and one at the bottom contains the motto. Maple branches present a wreath at the bottom. 12. [Bookplate for William Hale White] Executed with black ink on ivory paper, this bookplate depicts a sailing vessel heading towards the horizon where the sun is rising/setting. The vessel is framed by two obelisk-shaped pillars. 13. [Bookplate for William Greig] Black ink on yellow cardstock. The central image is of a tonsured, hooded monk writing at desk covered with open books and papers. The monk sits facing to the left, holds a stylus with his right hand and grasps his chin with his left hand. The image is framed in a thin double-line border with curled corners on the right side. The left side of the border is decorated with an ornate pattern of stylized, scrolled leaves. The text is written above and below the image of the monk in Gothic font. 14. [Bookplate for W. MacDonald MacKay] A man in a powdered wig sit in a library, looking out the window, with a book laid out on a table before him. The window is open and flowers and vines grow around its frame. A book at the lower right corner of the plate lists the date and possible initials of the artist:"Sept 1896" and "RJ." 15. [Bookplate for W. E. Gale by George Kuthan] Printed in black and red ink on blue paper. The image includes a border in black ink surrounding the image of a ship in red ink and text in black ink. What appears to be a small letter 'K' in red ink is to the right of the ship. 16. [Bookplate for University of British Columbia and Alice Ravenhill] Black ink on white paper. The bookplate features a border consisting of several black lines with X designs in the corners. There is the University of British Columbia crest. The chief has a dark background and features an open book with its straps lying out. The university motto is printed in stylized black font on the book’s open pages. The bottom section of the map was alternating black and white lines. From the bottom of the shield is part of a sun with its rays extending upwards. The sun is charged with black dots. To the right of the shield is stylized gothic text in large, black font. Below it is text printed in smaller, cursive, black font. At the bottom of the bookplate is smaller text printed in the gothic, black font with dotted lines next to the words. 17. [Bookplate for Thomas Nickleson Jeffery by C. W. Torbett] The armorial bookplate features a coat of arms. The escutcheon (shield) appears to be the impalement, or combining, of two distinct coats of arms into one shield. The dexter (right) shield is quartered: the repeated pattern features naiant (swimming) dolphins in an azure chevron between three leopard faces ; roses in a divided field of ermine (white with black tincture) and erminois (gold with black tincture) ; and a pheon (barbed arrow head) over an embattled field of sable and azure. Sinister (left) is a lion passant (lion depicted facing and walking to the left), which appears to be the shield of Jeffrey’s family through marriage, the Uniackes. Above the shield is a crest featuring a tree and a leopard with a horizontal anchor under its paw. Below the shield is a motto. 18. [Bookplate for Thomas Le Marchant] In black ink. This bookplate consists of an escutcheon, parted per pale. The first pale is divided in a paly of three, or (gold) and azure (blue). Dexter and sinister palys, or, are charged with a tree. While the center paly, azure, is charged with middle chief, a label and at the fess point a lion rampant. The second pale is parted per quarter. Quarters one and four are gules (red) and charged with three boar heads. Quarters two and three are argent (silver) on a chief, gules, charged with two mullets, argent. Above the crest is a straight wreath charged with a demi-lion, rampant, who clutches a scythe. The demi-lion is charged with two fleur-de-lis and below the escutcheon is a banner containing Le Marchant Thomas' Latin motto. 19. [Bookplate for Stephen Langston] This heraldic bookplate consists of an escutcheon parted per pale. On the left, or (gold), charged with a chevron, azure (blue). Above the chevron, are three heraldic roses in chief, and at centre base below the chevron a sea creature. On the right, the quadrant is parted per cross, with quarters two and four, or, vair in pale, azure. Quarters two and three are sable (black), parted per fess, argent (silver). The quarters are charged with three cinque foil, two over one. Above the escutcheon is a straight wreath charged with the sea creature at centre base at dexter and a rose bush. Below the escutcheon is a banner, with Latin motto within. 20. [Bookplate for Stanley C.
